While scanning notes looking for the “perfect” idea to re-ignite our blog two notes jumped off the page:
First, summary notes from a section of Patrick Lencioni’s, “The Advantage.”
Perfection Paralysis
- There isn’t ONE RIGHT answer in most circumstances
- Successful teams will tell you it’s about rallying around the best answer they could come up with at that time
- “A good plan violently executed today is better than a perfect plan executed next week.” -General George Patton
Second, a client shared with me one of Google’s mantras and it struck me at the time he shared it as much as this time re-reading it:
“Launch early and iterate.”
Many of us are afflicted with perfection paralysis, including yours truly. Case in point- this blog! (Our last post- fall of 2014). Often times the first step is the most difficult, the key is taking it.
If you happen to be reading this post and are suffering from a similar condition regarding a stalled initiative- let this be your sign, don’t wait any longer, follow Google’s lead- “launch early and iterate .”
