The concept of full attention takes conscious effort. At the heart of each person is a varying amount of self-interest … my happiness, my education, my career, my money, for my family.
These are important drives because they are primary reasons for doing what we do. They can also be a major flaw in how we approach human interaction.
People know when they are seen, heard, acknowledged, and more importantly, when they are not! A simple smile on your face directed toward them emanates positive energy. A head nod in passing lets people know that you see them.
Full attention does not need to be a several hour event. Sometimes, those little examples above are all it is.
Full attention let’s others know their “stuff” is important. It is one of the easiest ways to drive positive energy into your environment.
